A night for reconnecting with old teachers, establishing a rapport with new ones, and desperately and stealthily avoiding eye contact with parents of kids who your child doesn’t get along with.
Basically, the most awkward and dreaded night of any school year for me.
Thankfully all of the news was good. Elise is at a higher reading level than suspected and right where she should be with her reading skills. Her handwriting and writing speed is improving daily, and she is also making great progress in math – in her attitude toward it, especially.
I also kept hearing that Elise was so sweet, so kind, so sweet, sweet, sweet.
The thing she needs to work on most? Learning when it’s inappropriate for too many hugs and high fives.
You know, I can live with that.
