Today on the way to my mom’s house we stopped at a huge antique store that I’ve been wanting to check out for a while. I am not really into antiquing or old things in general – my style is very much more modern to be honest, but there are always little cool things in antique stores that you can’t find anywhere else.
For instance, they had a whole section of rotary phones (which Elise couldn’t comprehend) tons of old glass and pyrex bowls (which I actually do covet but have nowhere to put them) and a lot of terrifying old tools that look like they can kill you.
The best part were the bears.
I came upon them and laughed, thinking of The Bloggess and how much I wish I could afford a collection of bad taxidermy, and then I called Elise over to behold their awesome.
I had her pose in front of the bears and she said “Mommy these teddy bears look so real, it’s crazy!”
“That’s because they’re REAL BEARS!”
Then I explained taxidermy.
Then she nearly cried.
Luckily we found a vintage Care Bears Cheerbear for $6.00 and all was well in the world.
