Day 3 – That’s What She Say

Way back in the day I started to record a list of 1,000 new to me songs – an item I borrowed from Maggie Mason to complete on my Life List. Note to self: I should add to the list “Meet Maggie Mason to find out if she’s that effervescent in person.”

I find the new music either through Spotify radio, or, more frequently, through using Pandora radio and mish mashing different artists until I find things I have never heard of before. Since I am the kind of person who will happily listen to the same playlists over and over and OVER, this has been really fun for me.

In the dark ages, back when I was in high school and the few years following that, music was extremely important to me. I sang in all the choirs, played in marching band, and was known to spend irresponsible amounts of money traveling around and seeing my favorite bands perform multiple times. After Elise was born, I really slipped out of that “follow the music” mindset, and I guess I really forgot what I was missing, because now that I am writing more than ever, I’m also listening to more and more great tunes.

It’s also occurred to me that 1,000 songs is kind of a lot, and even if I remember to post a few songs per month, it’s still going to take me years to complete the list… that’s pretty neat!

  1. Thanks so much for sharing this music clip – it’s the first time I’ve ever seen such an easy and attractive little music app and the first time I’ve ever played music from someone’s blog – I love it!

    1. The clip is from soundcloud.com – they have an embed code specifically for WordPress and it works great, you just stick the code right into the post!

  3. I like Pandora. It’s fun to see what they come up with when you choose an artist or a topic. If you think high school is back in the dark ages wait until you get to be my age (41). Now that is back in the dark ages. 🙂
