Inspired by Maggie Mason, (and thousands of other bloggers), I am working on my list of things to do before I go, to have the mightiest life possible. Many lists have 100 items – I am not sure how long it will take me to get them all down on a list, but I am not going to stop at 100 if there are more things I feel like I want or need to do. A lot of these are things I’ve always wanted to do, some of them are things I’ve wanted to do but never thought I could, some of them I’ve “stolen” from other lists because they seem like great things to do in life, and some of these things I might not even get close to doing. But anyway, there is nothing like checking things off of a list, so here we go:

  1. Self-publish a novel
  2. Make a living writing
  3. Be happy with my job, regardless of what it is
  4. Shake Barack Obama’s hand
  5. Swim in the Pacific Ocean (done 4/23/13)
  6. Stay in one of those huts over the water in Bora-Bora
  7. Quit Facebook
  8. Keep the same blog for 5 years or more
  9. Take Elise to Disneyworld, just the two of us
  10. Meet Stephen King, tell him he’s sort of my hero
  11. Get an agent
  12. Own my own home
  13. Go to BlogHer
  14. Listen to 1,000 new songs (stolen from Maggie)
  15. Get my squid tattoo sleeve
  16. Finish reading Infinite Jest
  17. Do NaNoWriMo every year
  18. Have a fabulous 35th birthday party
  19. Have an even more fabulous 40th birthday party
  20. Be a part of a flash mob
  21. Go to the dentist
  22. Go somewhere in Europe
  23. Achieve my goal weight (175lbs)
  24. Sail on a sailboat
  25. Paint my own dish set at a pottery shop
  26. Watch a beach sunrise & sunset on the same day
  27. Drive through the kind of desert you see in movies (done 4/21/13)
  28. Really learn how to use a camera
  29. Milk a cow
  30. & Drink the milk (blegh)
  31. Take a hot air balloon ride
  32. Fly kites with Elise
  33. Sing Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” at karaoke
  34. Do the touristy NYC things: Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, The Met
  35. Swim with dolphins
  36. Go to a pro football game
  37. Make my parents proud of me
  38.   66. Go to a Rag & Bone Bindery event
  67. Cook a Thanksgiving dinner for family and friends
  68. Live in New York City (or close enough to it so that I can walk to a Subway that will take me there on a WHIM)
  69. Start a book club.
  70. Retire to Florida.
  71. Read the Harry Potter series to Elise.
  72. Blog 100 recipes I’ve made, because I need to learn how to cook, dangit.
  73. Walk the entire High Line
  74. Skinny dip in the ocean at NIGHT (OMG SO SCARY!)
  75. Have a stylish (yet comfortable) wardrobe (I’m frumpy)
